To enable families and children to
achieve and maintain a nurturing, safe and stable home environment
through a partnership with the community that provides comprehensive
integrated services which build on family strengths.

The La Gente "The People" Project is a confidential program providing services to families.
Services include:
* Assistance in accessing appropriate services and resources (formal and informal)
* Translation assistance
* Parenting classes and support groups
* Money management assistance
* Job Readiness skills
* Self-awareness and motivational classes
* Support and assistance in solving problems and setting goals
* Advocating for families to promote better interaction/understanding between families and agencies
* Assistance and support to TANF participants in fulfilling their Individual Responsibility Contracts
Eligibility
Services are available to all families who have a child or children 18 years or younger living in the home or temporarily placed out of the home.
Cost
There is no charge for services, however, families are asked to volunteer their time and/or services to the community.

* Quarterly newsletter of community activities
* Quarterly meeting of the Advisory Council to network and collaborate
* Parent Committee
Funding
Funding comes from the Division of Child Welfare, Departments of Social Services and San Luis Valley County Commissioners. Our thanks to the many businesses, agencies, churches, service clubs, and individuals who provide services and goods to our families throughout the year.
